The Kaituna Grade 5 is a trip that’s not for the faint hearted, so gather your partner, a few adrenalin-seeking friends or workmates or just yourself if everyone else is too scared, and meet us at our base at Lake Rotoiti for the adventure of a lifetime! Or arrange for our shuttle to pick you up from your central Rotorua accommodation.
Professional photographs are taken of each River Rats rafting trip and the Kaituna Grade 5 is suitable for all active people aged 13 years and over.
Complimentary pick up is available from central Rotorua accommodation approximately half an hour before the trip.

We will provide safety helmets, lifejackets, wetsuits, polar fleece tops (weather dependent), spray jackets (weather dependent), wetsuit booties.
All you need to bring is your swimsuit & towel.

Q. When can I book for the experience? A. Available all year round - Summer (1 Dec – 1 May) 9am, 12.30pm or 3.30pm daily; Winter (2 May - 30 Nov). Flexibility for groups. Allow 3 hours in total
Q. Is therer an age limit? A. 10 years (half river experience) or 13 years for full experience and must fit safety equipment.
Q. Where is the meeting point? A. The Kaituna River is situated at Okere Falls, between Rotorua (20 minutes drive) and Tauranga (45 minutes drive). Please come and check out our new premises at 391 State Highway 33, Mourea
