The Experience

Come join us for 6 – 8 km of calm shallow water kayaking. We start each trip with a summary of our basic kayaking rules, we give you a map of the river and explain in detail exactly where you are going. For new-paddlers and rusty-paddlers we also give you basic paddling instruction.

Then fit you out with a comfortable buoyancy aid, take you to the river, put you into your kayak - set you up and off on you go, gliding down the river! The trip will follow the tide meaning that paddling is assisted.

When doing the downriver paddle you will leave from Slippery Creek and head toward Hingaia. The trip is leisurely and winds through lowland swamp and then estuarine waters. The final stretch of water under the bridge can be swift and will add excitement to the final part of the journey. The waters are working waters, and you will see birds busily fishing and the odd fisherman on the way. Once you have got to Hingaia a courtesy coach will return you back to our original departure point.

Kayaking equipment including kayak, paddle, lifejacket and map will be provided.

Participants must be 7 years old or older.

For an incoming tide, the trip will be reversed and being at Hingaia.

Trip operates most days though the time of operation changes each day as the creek is tidal and can be paddled on 3 hours each side of high tide.

You are most likely to be accompanied by other participants. There is a zero tolerance to alcohol as it is a maritime experience and has inherent risks.

The right is reserved to assess participant’s ability to complete the experience.

Duration

This one way trip will take around two hours, though with briefings and transfers allow at least three hours for the trip.

Dress Code

We recommend wearing a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, jacket, togs, and insect repellent. Please bring a change of clothes for after your kayak, a towel camera and drinking water.
